Influencer 04:32
The flagellations leave me stripped apart and well-attentive The thought to never take advantage of unwanted privilege Prosthetic teleprompters, gods as victims, well accosted Morally caustic, that’s enough, too much, we’re all exhausted The thought to never face a consequence of your offenses While others have it that much harder from your influences Take out your effigies and burn them all with me So let’s have another round of applause I’ve never been a demagogue But you know, we’re only human beings Ahh.... I’m just waiting for Something to happen Under the influencer Under the influenza But you know, we all have a cause To choose our demagogues and burn our effigies And you’ve got mouths to feed Take anything you want And give them what we need But you know, at the end of the day I’ve never been a demagogue I’ve never had an effigy But you know, we’re only human beings So take out your effigies And burn them all with me So let’s have another round of applause Sacrifice your demagogues Give the people what they need And now you can just fade away Just walk off the stage Free us from your disease

Slow Slice 02:38
Pandemic fantasy a realist’s nightmare Filling your body with conspiracy warfare Default to patriotic hero and victim Where death is rhetoric and science is fiction Death camps no matter nursing home or prison Your lives still matter, but no bodies listen QTubers, MAGA, incells, anti-vaxxers Cut off their umbilical discord servers Micro-aggressions with a macro propensity A million deaths and slurs with varying intensity Under the radar but overwhelmed with apathy Their knives slowly slice open the social body White whitewashing is violent and vindictive Whose rights and well being are really those most afflicted? Bigotry, chance, and stupidity given purposeful design and meaning Do you believe in sheltered magical thinking? The greater good for the chosen few Just as long as you think like I do The greater good for the chosen few Just as long as you look like I do You're killing the body You're killing everybody

Sleepwalker 05:22
Every day is more or less more of the same My convictions like a flickering flame An inner realization that never came A desperation that surpasses any shame I won’t stay but I’ll remain More or less be the same I won’t try but I’ll refrain It’s really all the same So I lose myself to living in regret And let my better inhibitions take control With every liberation adding to the debt That weighs so heavily upon my heart and soul Walk away from it all I’m in control

about

2020 Jazz Punk Greats is as much a respectful nod and wink to Throbbing Gristle and their iconic album, 20 Jazz Funk Greats (1979), as it is a reaction to the reactionary politics of recent and COVID times.

The third straight-to-digital release from book on VHS, these home audio recordings of synth- and sample-driven pandemic pop are partly inspired by our love for electronic and experimental music as well as plunderphonics.

We encourage you to hear/watch/play original sources covered or sampled throughout this volume, (mostly) cited in the credits.
